Dennis Prager continued his attack on the news media for their obsession with the Clinton sex scandal. With the full agreement of his wife Fran, Dennis said the Clinton sex scandal illuminated more important issues - mainly the news media's preoccupation with sex, scandal, scoops and ratings.

"I give the President carte blanche to do what he wants with women, privately, consensually... Sex is a unique part of life. It is not a great barometer of integrity.

"I feel that I am reduced by the bombardment of private sexual information about public figures.

"My heart goes out to Monica Lewinsky. Her life has been hurt by all this..."

Prager radio show today was sponsored by HARD COPY, the TV show that boasts about its examination of scandalous material.

A caller to Prager said that politicians with the strongest commitment to unrestricted abortion and gay rights, such as Senators Packwood, Kennedy and Dodd, as well as Presidents Kennedy and Clinton, were more likely to be promiscuous.

Dennis said that what cleavage does to a man, power in a man does to many women.

"Just as some men will self-destruct over a woman's body, some women will self-destruct over a man's power.

"If the President were seen flirting publicly with a woman, I would be livid because that would publicly humiliate his wife. But the President has kept this stuff private, it is the press that humiliates the President's wife."

Dennis said how much the ability to lie with a straight face bothered him, and that he was incapable of such behavior. "I'd break out into a sweat… [Prager's inability to lie]…is a joke amongst my family."

Prager said that many people give too high a premium to sexual sins. "What if we had a tape of Clinton yelling at his mother? Would that reveal his character? Should that be broadcast?"

Measuring character is complex. How does the person treat his spouse, his parents? It seems that for many people, a sin in a sexual arena renders a person a moral nought.

Dennis said that many supporters of Clinton, who are now complaining about this media intrusion into his private life, were not horrified when the same thing happened to Clarence Thomas and Bruce Herschonsen. [A member of Senator Barbara Boxer's team told the news media that they had pictures of Bruce at a strip show.] These same supporters would probably horrified if they found out the President smoked.

Prager pointed out how the President used to walk around with an unlit cigar…"a classic Freudian case of where a cigar is more than a cigar…" The President was afraid to be seen smoking.

Prager noted that he has often said that the difference between a Roman Catholic priest and a married man, was that while the priest could sleep with no women, the married man could sleep with no women bar one.
