While people like Ms. Sepulveda willingly visit unlicensed practitioners, other would-be patients in Miami believe they are seeing licensed doctors. In 2004 "De Maņanita," a Miami-based talk show on the Telemundo network, broadcast a series on cosmetic treatments featuring Luis Ayala, whom one talk show hostess referred to as "our own trusted plastic surgeon."
