Is the desire for quicker results pushing the limits in cosmetic surgery?
Maybe, says Dr. Randolph Robinson, founder of Park Meadows Cosmetic
Surgery. Thanks to media and popular television shows on makeovers,
the general public has been asking for more access to cosmetic procedures.
Yet they want quick results without the downtime traditionally associated
with more conventional cosmetic procedures. But what people don't realize
is that with quicker, simpler procedures, the results will also be less
dramatic or even impermanent in nature. "With simple procedures like
the lifestyle or adjustable facelift, there is a question of how long
the results will last," stated Dr. Robinson. "These facelifts are performed
by using barbed thread to pull the facial tissues to a new height, then
sewn in place. The threads can detach from the skin after a short period
of time or, if not sewn in place correctly, can sometimes be seen through
the skin." Which has left many doctors like Dr Robinson searching for
alternatives that provide far superior results, but still cut the recovery
time to a minimum. "As a double board certified cosmetic surgeon, I
want to make sure I offer my patients the best possible procedure that
will give them the results they are looking for, and will allow them
to get back to their normal routines as fast as possible," stated Dr.
Robinson.
