How Do Blacks Feel About America?

When Michelle Obama said that her husband’s presidential nomination by the Democratic party was the first time she had felt proud of her country, I think she spoke for many black Americans.

I suspect that blacks and whites feel differently about the United States of America and have had a different historical experience here.

When I watched people pour on to the streets of America to celebrate the killing of Osama Bin Laden, I saw a lot of whites (and I presume that few of them were Jewish) but very few if any blacks or latinos.

In my experience, most whites in America love America while blacks have much more ambivalent feelings. I suspect blacks are more likely than whites to view America as racist and oppressive and exploitive. I believe that in general tribes have a different type of relationship from the white majority to the nation-states created by WASPs.

Ruth Epstein: “You cannot condemn aa man for using street languish”

Chaim Amalek: “I’d rather those wearing such t-shirts got stopped by ISIS, too.”

“Yes, I want Sharia law imposed on those who think they’d rather get stopped by an ISIS patrol than deal with a cop in Ferguson.”

“I want fools who equate the Ferguson PD to ISIS and find the latter the better option to get to see first hand if they are right.”

“[Re: Islam] Fact is, if your opponent knows you won’t fight back — and so far, with respect to the fundamental matter of immigration, those in charge of Western lands are not — he knows he can win.”

“The greatest risk is that this [murderous Islamic rhetoric from ISIS] will lead to more anti-Muslim prejudice and that this might manifest itself in terms of more restrictive immigration from places like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the like.”

“I don’t see how ISIS can infiltrate from the south if we make sure that a vast steady stream of spanish-speaking people is occupying that territory and on the lookout for any ISIS infiltrators. Besides, the odds are that once an ISIS person arrives here and sees what diversity is like he will change his tune and channel his energies along more constructive lines.”

“From my current perspective, the elites live in places where crime, black white yellow brown, simply is not a day-to-day issue for they way they live. Certainly not for the Oligarchs in Manhattan and the people they employ to read off of telepromters. They cover crime only when it provides them with a suitable teaching moment.”
