Dick Cook presides over Disney's movie operations. He was named chairman of Walt Disney Studios by CEO Michael Eisner in February, 2002.

Cook succeeds Peter Schneider who last 18 months on the job. His predecessors were Joe Roth and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

In a 3/3/02 LA Times profile, Claudia Eller writes that Cook's a square. He lives with his family in La Cañada Flintridge, and says "gosh" a lot.

Born and raised in Bakersfield, Cook began working at Disneyland in 1970. He drove the Monorail and the Santa Fe & Disney Railroad. In 1972, he met his future wife Bonnie, another ride operator. They married in 1975. They have two daughters, born in 1983 and 1991.
